Jenny Soto-Banks holds a BS in Liberal Studies and a Multiple-Subject Teaching Credential from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. After college, she spent two years as a Teacher Trainer Volunteer with the Peace Corps, collaborating with the Department of Ed and the National Library Service in Belize. Jenny developed a remedial reading program, spearheaded the Chan Pine Ridge Village Library Project, and taught various community development courses. After her service, she earned a CA Site Supervisor Permit through Saddleback College’s Child Development Program and has been a Child Development Specialist and Mentor Teacher at a community college Child Development Center and lab school for over 8 years. She incorporates her SEFEL training (Social and Emotional Foundations for Early Learning), yoga training, mindfulness practices and nature photography in the classroom. Jenny was recently awarded OCAEYC’s 2019 Orange County Mentor of the Year, and was selected to moderate the closing session at NAEYC’s Professional Learning Institute in Long Beach earlier this month. Her passion and philosophy is shaped by her experiences in a variety of educational settings, learning and growing with children and families over the past 20 years. Please join the journey and let’s ensure every child feels secure and seen. 👁💖🧠 #tinyfriendsBIGFeelings #earlychildhoodeducation #childdevelopment #preschoolteacher #mudplay #outdoorclassroom #preschoolmentalhealthandwellbeing #socialemotionaldevelopment #themoreyouknow🌈
